Book of the Week #6: The Aftermath Project, War is Only Half the Story Vol. III

After a short interlude, Book of the Week has found a new home on eyecurious books etc. This week I’m featuring the Aftermath Project’s latest book (Vol. III). The project is summed up perfectly in it’s title: “War is Only Half the Story,” and Aftermath has been doing a stellar job providing a space for the other half to be told. This volume includes work by 8 photographers, 3 more than the previous 2 volumes, and thankfully this increase in quantity is matched by one in quality. It’s great to see a group of people coming together and enabling this kind of in-depth documentary photography to continue to find financing in this not-exactly-easy media environment. Just this week they have announced that they are awarding $65,000 in grants for photo projects on the Sahrawi people, deadline, 25 March 2011, details on the Aftermath website.
